table after an unsuccessful venture against Fulham in Craven Cottage. We usually are not the best in London but I expected and feel we easily deserved at least a point. They played a good first half but we matched it. A defensive error by Cacapa in the 23rd minute secured an easy goal for Andrew Johnson of Fulham. The second half was all Newcastle, many missed opportunity until Ameobi tied the game a ball ricocheted in the box and Ameobi fired it in. (he may have been slightly offside.) All seemed well for Newcastle it seemed we were going to win the three points. Danny Murphy had an atrocious foul against Cacapa in the 66th minute(for some reason it was not called no matter how obvious?) and with all Coloccini was able to do he clipped Murphy and Murphy converted the spot kick. A very harsh result and to add to the woes Kinnear may be out with another ban after "abusing" the ref by calling him mickey mouse.

Newcastle United sale reaching an end, But who is in to buy it?

Earlier I posted news of there being SEVEN offers on the table to buy out Newcastle United from current under-fire owner Mike Ashley. Nigeria did not have the financial support they claimed and even though the media insisted they were top contenders South Africa never really offered. As for the other three left its not really quite sure but there our still two offers left on the table from two American companies. The owner or chairman is the most important person at a football club, the manager is second and everyone else third.

''If a director of football does not have the blessing of the manager, it does not work.''

When Keegan announced his resignation, he stressed it was his belief that managers ''must have the right to manage'' and must have the final say on any incoming players.

He may have known little of the moves which saw Xisco and Nacho Gonzalez come to the club on Monday, and Robson said: ''You cannot imagine Sir Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger or Rafa Benitez being handed players they did not know anything about. And no manager worth his salt is going to take the Newcastle job with the current set-up.''

Robson is convinced the presence of Wise at Newcastle will remain unsettling, particularly if he continues to spend much of his time in London, and he has questioned the former England midfielder's credibility, citing his lack of top-flight experience as a manager.

Robson added: ''It is no surprise that Kevin Keegan left this week. For a proud manager like him, it must have been impossible to work under the control of Dennis Wise. First of all, the director of football was more powerful than the manager, which should never be the case. And secondly, they did not work in unison, which means communicating face to face. How could they, when Kevin was there at the club, and Wise was not?''"

Very well said.

If we can get any manager at all I'll be surpized. I think it may be time to let mr. wise go!

Ashley to Sell Newcastle?

"Mike Ashley, the embattled owner of Newcastle United, could be offered an early opportunity to follow Kevin Keegan out of St James’ Park after it emerged that there is fresh interest in the Tyneside club from abroad.

It is becoming increasingly likely that Reliance Communications, the Indian-based telecoms giant, will seek formal talks with the Barclays Premier League club’s board with a view to a £220 million takeover.

However, of greater significance to those furious Newcastle supporters determined to oust Ashley is the revelation that Anil Ambani, the owner of Reliance, has identified Keegan as the only credible managerial candidate capable of moving the club forward.

Less than 24 hours after Keegan announced his departure from St James’ Park as manager for the second time, the odds on him being reappointed had fallen to 14-1. Ambani is a great believer in continuity and his representatives are aware of the standing of the so-called “Geordie Messiah” among the club’s supporters.

He was first linked with a buyout of Newcastle last month, but his representatives denied suggestions of a £260 million move. It is understood that Ambani baulked at that price because Newcastle had failed to strengthen the squad.

However, Reliance has followed developments at the club and the team that it assembled to investigate the viability of a bid believes that the time is right to test Ashley’s resolve.

Aware of the vitriol aimed at Newcastle’s owner by fans who feel that Keegan is an innocent victim of mismanagement, the Indians are ready to move fast with an offer that more realistically matches their assessment of the club’s value.

Ashley paid £130 million for Newcastle in July 2007 and wiped out debts estimated at £80 million, but rumours persisted that the businessman was seeking a sale after becoming disillusioned with his investment.

Highly placed sources suggest that Reliance and others were invited to bid in excess of £250 million for Newcastle this summer.

Those sources said yesterday that Ambani was ready to revive interest in his favourite Premier League club, with Keegan at the centre of an ambitious public-relations policy aimed to get disillusioned season ticket-holders and deserting businesses back on board." - nufc.com

Would be a great time for ashley to sell, and it would be even greater to have a manager who truly supports NEWCASTLE!

Barton Back Behind Bars. :(

"Newcastle United midfielder Joey Barton has been banned for six matches by the Football Association for his attack on Ousmane Dabo, with a futher six games suspended. The England international attacked Dabo during a Manchester City training session in May 2007 but the Football Association's disciplinary hearing was delayed until now due to the criminal proceedings. The midielder was handed a four-month suspended jail term for the offence, handed down while he was in prison for a street attack in Liverpool last Christmas.
The player will be suspended until Newcastle make the trip to Sunderland for the Tyne-Wear derby on October 25. The further six games are suspended until the end of the 2009/10 season and will come into force should the 26-year-old be charged with a similar offence, including being sent from the field of play for violent conduct. He was also fined £25,000 after pleading guilty to the charge.

Barton may count himself lucky to some extent with speculation that he could be banned for 15 matches by the FA.

A statement on the FA's website read: 'Much has been written about Mr Barton over recent months. The Regulatory Commission had the benefit of taking all appropriate information into consideration. The Commission members considered principally the serious attack by Mr Barton that clearly cannot be accepted.

'The members also had to take into consideration the sanctions imposed by the courts and the pro-active support Mr Barton has received from Newcastle United FC and other professional bodies.

'The Commission members wanted to punish the offence appropriately but give Mr Barton an opportunity to ensure his professional conduct does not falter again and ensure he is fully aware of the consequences should he make another serious error of judgement.'

Departing Newcastle manager Kevin Keegan had been a staunch supporter of the troubled star, insisting he deserved another chance to right his wrongs. Keegan, who was also the player's manager at Manchester City, faxed a letter of support to the FA ahead of the hearing.

As part of his rehabilitation Barton has stopped drinking, a response to the attack which saw him put behind bars. He has not touched alcohol for eight months after being helped out by the Sporting Chance clinic. It is hoped this will help to prevent the player getting into further trouble.

His career has been dogged by disciplinary problems on and off the pitch. The first red card of his career came in February 2004 at half-time in an FA Cup tie at Tottenham Hotspur when he showed persistent dissent to match officials.

Keegan was furious with Barton in July of that year when a reckless challenge in a pre-season friendly at Doncaster resulted in a mass brawl on the pitch - and Barton was sent straight home.

Later that year the off-field problems began when, as City's Christmas party, Barton inexplicably stubbed out a lit cigar in the eye of youth team player James Tandy. He was fined four weeks' wages by his club.

Then, in July 2005 on the club's pre-season tour of Thailand, Barton was involved in an altercation with a 15-year-old Everton fan at the team's hotel in Bangkok. This led to an eight-week fine and Barton was told to take an anger management course.

Barton appeared to have put his badboy days behind him through the 2005/06 season but then in September 2006 he dropped his shorts in the direction of Everton fans after a 1-1 draw at Goodison Park. Three months later he was sent off for the second time in his career after a two-footed lunge on Bolton's Abdoulaye Faye.

In 2007, Barton's troubles intensified. In March he was arrested on suspicion of assault and criminal damage after being involved in an incident with a taxi driver. Two months later came the attack on Dabo which led to Barton being sold to Newcastle United for £5.8million.

It was a risk for new Magpies boss Sam Allardyce, who firmly believed he could get the player on the straight and narrow. But at Christmas came the attack in Liverpool city centre. Allardyce had allowed the injured Barton to return to Merseyside for Christmas but after a night of drinking he attacked another person in the street. That led to a six-month jail term for common assault and affray with the judge describing the attack as 'violent and cowardly'.

Newcastle owner Mike Ashley was persuaded against sacking Barton by Keegan. The club then reportedly tried to sell Barton on transfer deadline day and this is believed to be one of several reasons Keegan walked away from the club this week.

It remains far from certain what will happen to Barton once the transfer market reopens in January with a new manager in charge at St James' Park."

It's lame that they would charge him so much after it happened and that newcastle has to pay for it, But I think we can survive without him... as long as we get a decent manager and soon...

Shearer: No Newcastle Job For Me

"Newcastle fans' favourite Alan Shearer has ruled himself out of the running to replace Kevin Keegan and admitted he could never be manager at St James' Park under the current regime.

Shearer, 38, insisted the supporters were entitled to be angry following Keegan's resignation as the Magpies' manager yesterday.

The former England boss left in protest at his lack of involvement in the buying and selling of players.

Newcastle owner Mike Ashley had given former Leeds manager Dennis Wise - appointed executive director (football) - and Tony Jimenez, the club's vice president, control of the club's transfer policy.

Recruiting Shearer as manager would go some way to appeasing the Toon Army, who have protested outside St James' Park since rumours started circulating that Keegan had left the club earlier in the week.

But the former England striker, who scored 206 goals in 404 appearances during his 10-year spell on Tyneside, has said that he would not be able to work under the current structure at the club.

'I would like to be a manager at some stage in my career, but that means controlling the players that go in and the players that go out,' he told BBC's Football Focus.

'I don't think I would be comfortable working within a structure with a director of football who was picking and choosing the players for me.'

Everton manager David Moyes and former Juventus coach Didier Deschamps have been installed as the bookmakers' favourites for the job, but Shearer said he was unsure about who will take the job.

'I don't think there will be a shortage of people who want the job, but your guess is as good as mine,' he said.

'I know the fans are very unhappy at the moment. They have voiced their opinions and they are more than entitled to do that because without the fans there is no Newcastle United.

'They are angry, hurt, and disappointed and everyone feels for them, me included because we all want the same thing - success at Newcastle United because we are all supporters.

'It's going to be a big task for them because the fans are very angry. There are going to be a million names thrown around and they are going to have to make a decision quickly, before the next game.'"

I didn't expect him to be interested in the job either he's got more then a good right to turn it down! Keegan was forced out of the Manager job at Newcastle United by the board. He was limited to almost nothing, and they were planning to take away more. He wasn't incharge of transfers, what offers were accepted, where the scouts went, contracts he was turning into a puppet. Keegan did not like this and did the RIGHT thing and left.

After seeing that what top knotch manager is going to want to manage newcastle? No one wants to be a puppet(well maybe jose mourinho but only at a top club were he still gets credit for the success) they want to get out there and show what they can do.

James milner was already kicked out the door and with how ashley manages there well be more to follow. Unless we somehow get an amazing manager fast were headed for some dark times. =[

Kevin Keegan Resigns!

NUFC Official Statement:

"Newcastle United Football Club is sad and disappointed that Kevin Keegan has resigned.

"Over the last few days the Club has devoted itself to the discussions it has held with Kevin and as a result of those discussions had put together a set of practical suggestions for how to move forward.

"Today the Club made it clear to Kevin that if he had any outstanding concerns on its proposals, he should raise them with the Club.

"The Club regrets that Kevin has, instead of taking up that offer, chosen to resign."

Keegan Quotes:

Kevin Keegan has resigned as Newcastle United Manager, confirming the news on Thursday evening in a statement issued via the League Manager's Association:

“I’ve been working desperately hard to find a way forward with the directors, but sadly that has not proved possible.

"It’s my opinion that a manager must have the right to manage and that clubs should not impose upon any manager any player that he does not want.”

I'm Extremely sad to see this happen, I was really hoping they could work things out and I mysefl am A little angry with the NUFC management right now.

Who do you think well replace him? (don't include the arsenal game) And two of the three players who keep ending up on the squad of the week are Jonas and Coloccini, There certainly helping the play of the game. The third who apears on the squad of the week is Shay Given, This is no suprize because he's always been an amazing keeper for us. =] But this biggest impact have been from the two new lads from argentina. The look extremely promising, hopefully we can keep them at the toon and maybe see a few spidey dances from Jonas. =D

Keegan on his way, ALREADY?

Over the last few days there has been countless speculation regarding the future of Kevin Keegan. (manager of Newcastle United)
At first it was just small rumors but they got bigger and bigger and ended up with NUFC.co.uk making official statements. According to it right now Keegan has not been sacked and has not left, but don't be fooled there very heated up right now.

Many of you may think that Keegan is important to the club because his record isn't the greatest right now, but if you look at what allardyce left him with he's doing great. He saved up from relegation last year, he's started us off with a good season so far, and hes brought in some amazing signings. Also if it would of been up to Keegan we would still have milner who I felt was a big part of our midfield.

If Keegan were to be replaced we would be certain to plomet, I doubt the new manager could be as good as the messiah and he would have no time to adjust the team to his needs. I don't know about you guys but I'd say keegan is very vital to our survival.

In and Out?
